Requesting your healthy snacks

Technically I'm not asking you to give them to me outright like a snackz begz0r. What I'm looking for are some ideas about midday snacks that are closer to the healthy side of the spectrum than the not-healthy.

I'm over carrot sticks dipped in hummus or smeared with Laughing Cow cheese. My go-to snack is 20 raw almonds or a slice of wheat bread with a tbsp of reduced fat Peanut Butter. Golly that makes me sound old. I might as well tell you I tried prunes once and found them to be delightful, which is to say, I am not a picky eater.

Any creative ideas out there to help keep me out of the cookie jar?

Sugar Snap Peas dipped in (low fat?) Ranch are delicious. I've found the Snap Peas at Costco to be especially crisp and wonderful.

Oh, good tip, MommaJen. I've always ignored the snap peas for no reason at all.

Snacks I have enjoyed: apple slices with peanut butter; wheat crackers dipped into ricotta cheese; sunflower seeds; LaraBars or Zing Bars; corn tortilla folded with some shredded cheddar melted inside; or my current favorite, donut peaches from the farmers market.

Wow, Sue, lots of great suggestions! That's exactly what I was looking for. I've never considered ricotta cheese. Thank you!

A healthly snack on a warm summer day is frozen grapes. If you can stand the cold on your teeth, they are quite refreshing!
